I hate when I buy something with a warranty, only to find that the company has gone out of business right before the product fails and I need to us the warranty. There was a time we bought a car, and we got the extended warranty because the salesman told us that everything but the tires and hoses were covered. Less than a month after we purchased the car, it had transmission problems. When we took it back for the repairs we were told that the warranty did not cover that kind of damage!
I am so grateful that God has never failed me in the past. “For the LORD shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken” (Proverbs 3:26). There will never be a person you are going to meet who will be totally dependable! Put your confidence in the right Person, and trust Him alone. Regardless of what stage of life you are in, you will be tempted to trust another man rather than God. The only Person you can completely depend upon is God Himself.
You cannot depend upon anyone for you walk with God. If you are depending on this devotional to keep you walking with God, you will be in trouble … I will fail you at some point … I am a sinner, just like you! If you are depending on your Pastor to keep you walking with God, you will be in trouble; your Pastor is human too. If you are depending on that TV Evangelist to keep you walking with God, you will be in trouble; he/she is not God. If you are depending on a good Christian author to keep you walking with God, you will be in trouble, he is doing his best to help you, but he is not God!
Am I saying, “Don’t listen to anyone else?” No! Remember, that the people you are listening to here on this earth are just human beings with all the flaws and blemishes that you. The only Person you can have absolute confidence in is the LORD! The word “confidence” carries the idea of complete trust. I can tell you that you the LORD “shall keep thy foot from being taken.” You can fully trust God if you are facing cancer. You can fully trust God if your finances are failing. You can fully trust God if your personal relationships are not what they should be. You can fully trust God! He has given us His Word in order to direct and guide our steps each day. He has placed the Holy Spirit within you as a believer to convict you of sin; to draw you back to His side; to brush you off and stand you up again and to push you back out into service again. Trust Him!
