There is a little chorus I love that says, “He’s all I need … He’s all I need … Jesus is all I need.” I believe that with all my heart. What about you today? Are you satisfied with Jesus Christ? The Bible says, “Hell and destruction are never full; so the eyes of man are never satisfied” (Proverbs 27:20). If you and I are not careful, we will always be searching for something “new,” something better. I am so thankful that for the past forty-nine years Jesus has been all I need to satisfy the longing of my soul.
We are living in a time when no one seems to be satisfied with what they have. Each year (it seems), the phone you are using gets improved, and you need the next generation of phone. I am wondering how a generation (in phone years) passes so quickly. I can tell you the reason … it is because the “eyes of man are never satisfied.” While you are driving down the road, no matter what make/year of car you are driving, you will see one a little bit better … a little bit faster … a little bit shinier (not sure that’s really a word), and a part of you will want that. The clothing you are putting on today is probably already out of fashion before you put it on. The computer you have needs to be upgraded. The coffee you will drink will need to be heated up again … I think you are getting the idea.
I was introduced to Jesus as my Savior when I was a boy of six (please understand that my parents had been introducing me to Him since my birth). My family did something that is so important to me now these forty nine years later. They did not simply introduce Jesus to me as a Savior; they introduced me to Him as a Friend for eternal life! I love Him! I can’t wait to see Him face to face! We have talked often throughout my life, and He has become the Friend that sticks closer than a brother to me! He is my All in all. He is all that the Bible said He would be to me and more! He really is all I need!
My heart still breaks when I think of Him on the cross in my place. My eyes fill with tears as I re-enact that scene in my mind again and again! You see, I do not need to fear Hell and destruction because of Him. I am absolutely, 100% satisfied with Him! I am happy today that I don’t need to “upgrade” my Savior! He is already all I need, and He will continue to be all I need into eternity! If you have gotten envious of the “things” others have around you … look to Jesus and find eternal satisfaction in Him! He really is all you will ever need!
