What an incredible book the Bible is for us today! It is like the oasis in the middle of the desert of life. It is like the refreshing cold glass of water on a hot summer day like we are facing right now. It is like the ultimate food that satisfies the longing of our soul, but makes us want more every time we read it! What a great book. Let me share a number of verses with you today and end with one that really touched my heart.
“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty” (Psalm 91:1). There is a secret place with God that no one in this world can block. Regardless of the situation you are going to face today, or somewhere down the road of life, remember that there is a place you have with God that nothing can take away.
“I will say of the LORD, He is my Refuge and my Fortress; my God; in Him will I trust” (91:2). In a day when the economy fluctuates like the waves of an ocean in a bad storm, you have a place to anchor your hope … In your God! Don’t waiver when the storms come; run to the refuge … the fortress … your God!
“Surely He shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover thee with His feathers, and under His wings shalt thou trust: His truth shall be thy shield and buckler” (91:3-4). There is nothing that is more powerful that your God! There is nothing that can penetrate His protection of you! What a beautiful picture of being under His wings … close to His heart … totally at ease from the noise of the world around us. That is our God!
These things are all contingent upon one thing in your life. “Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my Refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; there shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come night thy dwelling” (91:9-10). Make the Lord your place of refuge. Make Him the place you live and abide. Make Him the center of your entire life. Every minute of this day and all that follow, allow Him to be the Master! If you and I will do this, we are promised all the blessings of Psalm 91. This chapter has lifted my spirits, but it also sets a great challenge before each of us. We need to get out of the driver’s seat of our lives, and let Him have complete control. That is easier said than done. Move on over and let Him have complete control. You will not be sorry!
